Critical and creative thinking in mathematics

Mathematics is also called the science of reasoning. Reasoning in mathematics is of two main types i) inductive reasoning and ii) deductive reasoning.

Inductive reasoning is a kind of reasoning when statements containing mathematical truths that are based on observations and experiences where we argue that a particular property is true in a number of cases than it will be true in all other similar cases.

Whereas deductive reasoning is a type of reasoning that is based on certain postulates or axioms and we try to compare and contrast with various statements and then draw the conclusions from such a comparison.
